The major activity of the HGSC is high-throughput DNA sequence generation and the accompanying analysis. The center currently operates all the available sequencing machines (AB Sanger and SOLiD, 454 Life Sciences and Solexa/Illumina). The generation and analysis of the sequence data generated by these machines entails not only development and refinement of new laboratory protocols, but also robotics support, laboratory informations management systems, and bioinformatics development for both analysis and genome assembly.
