We are currently seeking a Bioinformatics Programmer who will be responsible for scientific programming and quantitative analysis in a fast-paced, highly-motivated academic environment.
Duties primarily involve developing and refining all aspects of high-throughput genome resequencing and assembly pipeline. This position provides the unique opportunity to be at the forefront of computational genetics, working with one of the largest sequence variant and phenotype data sets ever generated.
The successful applicant will take part in world class genomics projects that are driving our current understanding of biology and medicine. Projects include: sequencing of the Drosophila genetic reference panel, an association panel of 192 D. melanogaster strains with extensive quantitative trait data including life span, alcohol tolerance and gene expression levels, to enable association with DNA sequence polymorphisms, the 1000 genomes human genome sequencing project, cancer genome sequencing, and multiple human disease oriented human genome sequencing projects.
The successful applicant will be fluent in Perl and have experience with Unix shell script. Familiarity with DNA sequencing technology and quantitative sequence analysis experience a plus. Familiarity with Java, C++, Ruby, and/or Python is also a plus.
