We are currently seeking a Sr. Systems Administrator that will work as part of the systems administration group at the Human Genome Sequencing Center at Baylor College of Medicine. The position will have the opportunity to work with state of the art systems for High Performance Computing.
The primary responsibility of this position is Unix administration with additional responsibilities involving storage support and administration.
Requirements include:
- Five years of administration experience in Linux/UNIX environments.
- Experience working in a customer service environment.
- The ability to work with little supervision under pressure and meet deadlines as well as prioritize tasks.
- Strong written and verbal communications skills.
- Experience supporting servers and workstations in a variety of application areas.
- Knowledge of storage systems with various file systems including Veritas file systems and volume manager, Veritas NetBackup, storage arrays, backup hardware and software, SAN environments, and network attached storage.
- Experience with Linux servers or Linux cluster environments.
- Experience with NFS, NIS, automounter, SSH, DNS, SMTP, Sendmail configuration, Apache configuration, and Tomcat configuration.
Optional requirements include:
- Experience with Sun Solaris.
- Knowledge of installation and configuration tools, including PXE boot, Kickstart and Cfengine.
- Strong background with server builds, OS installation and configuration, patch management, package updates, and performance tuning.
- Experience configuring Bind, LDAP, AD, NIS, NFS servers, direct and indirect automount maps, jumpstart servers, and complex network interface configurations utilizing LAG and virtual interfaces.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a complex operating environment to accomplish change while maintaining operations without disruption.
- A proven track record of developing and implementing standards and procedures that facilitate operations and documentation for technical build support.
- Applicable recognized certifications (e.g. RHCT, RHCE) are preferred.
