Informatics Positions

Enthusiastic individuals are sought to work in a research environment supporting ongoing improvements in sequencing technology and developing new software tools for sequence analysis. Candidates will have knowledge of object oriented programming concepts and experience with Unix programming tools. Experience with biological sequence analysis is a plus.

 

 
 

Oracle DBA
HGSC is currently recruiting an Oracle DBA, candidate should have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field with a minimum of 3 years of practical Oracle database administration experience.

Detailed Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Provide full DBA support for UNIX, Linux platform Oracle Database applications in 24 x 7 environments.
  • Installation of Oracle software and patchsets.
  • Use of RMAN, Oracle Utilities, and UNIX shell scripting.
  • Monitoring of databases including monitoring, backups and tuning.
  • Executing database migrations from one version of a schema to another.
  • Working with application developers to resolve performance issues.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Experience as Oracle DBA on UNIX platform.
  • Knowledge and experience with RMAN and Oracle Utilities.
  • Knowledge and experience with UNIX shell scripting.
  • Experience with monitoring of databases (e.g. monitoring, backups and tuning).
  • Experience with resolving performance issues.
  • Experience with basic platform tools like PL/SQL, Import/Export, SQL Loader, Tkprof, DBverify, logminer, etc.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Knowledge with Oracle RDBMS versions 8i and 9i with experience installing and supporting clustering.
  • Experience installing Oracle on servers and client machines.
  • Knowledge of Oracle RAC a plus.
  • Knowledge of Oracle Partitioning a plus.
  • Knowledge of Oracle 10g a plus.
  • Knowledge of MySql a plus.
 

Laboratory Positions

Research Tech II (Production)
College degree with a science major is required (B.S. preferred). College lab experience in a research environment is a plus. Duties include the preparation of DNA templates and fluorescent sequencing reactions for large scale sequencing, quality control, and completion of scheduled production quotas. The candidate must be a team player, have excellent communication skills, and be very dependable in reporting to work.
