The Human Genome Sequencing Center has sequenced specific regions of the laboratory mouse, Mus musculus. The genome sequence of the mouse was produced by the Mouse Genome Sequencing Corsortium.

Funding for this project comes from the NIH.

Blast searches access:

  • Individual sequencing reads, from both Whole Genome and BAC Shotgun libraries
  • Assembled BAC clones
  • Assembled BAC clones enriched using the BAC-Fisher (see below).

Individual matched sequences (reads or assemblies) can be retrieved from the BCM FTP site or NCBI using links in the output.

Individual BAC clones can be searched using the Sequencing Project Browser with a query of:

  • an Accession number (AC007585)
  • a Clone name (MGS3-250J8)
  • or a Project name (MMAF)

Use the BAC Fisher to find Whole Genome Shotgun reads that overlap sequencing reads from a clone. This program finds similar sequences where the matches extend to the end of the query sequences . BAC-Fisher is tuned to reject repeat matches without masking repeats in the query.

A three-way comparison of rat and human to mouse chromosomes found using Pash is available for browsing.
